Group Classes

Puppy Socialization & Basic Manners

Bringing home a puppy is such an incredibly exciting time for everyone involved!! We are excited that you have considered us to be part of this very important learning journey along with you.

Each lesson is broken into 3 parts:

Pet parent education
Puppy skills/commands
Puppy playtime with instructor guidance

Our Puppy Socialization & Basic Manners course offers instruction on the basic techniques covering the commands:

Look
Sit
Down
Stay

In addition to the basic commands, you will also learn about:

Fear-impact periods and puppy developmental stages
Basic first aid and basic grooming
Introducing your puppy to new things
Teaching your puppy independent play
Puppy biting/nipping
Chewing

We are excited that you have taken the very first step on the journey of lifelong learning for you and your pup and we are honoured that you have considered us, at Paw & Order, to partner with you along the way.

Our Manners 101 class is taught in a group class environment here at Paw & Order and is limited to a small number of pets at any given time to ensure that every pet and pet parent has the guidance and support that they need to feel comfortable and be successful in their training. We use only positive reinforcement training techniques to establish and build a bond between the pet parent(s) and the dog so that the dog will execute the commands with a willingness to please the owner. We DO NOT use any form of aversive training methods and we do not allow them anywhere on site at Paw & Order. These include training devices such as electric collars, prong collars, and choke chains as well as any method that includes physically manipulating a dog’s body with force.

Taking a group class with a knowledgeable and qualified trainer is an excellent step in ensuring that you and your dog are ready for the real world. Group classes offer the element of distractions all around them in the form of other dogs and people. With this said, training with distractions in place is often not the very best first step in your training journey and this is why we require all dogs entering the Manners 101 Group class to have completed either the Paw & Order Online Video Series OR our Puppy Socialization & Basic Manners course before starting in the group class (this does not apply to those participating in the sessions taking place at the Oromocto SPCA in the summer of 2024).

AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW! - With weekly support calls/e-mails with a trainer to keep you on track and answer any questions you might have.

Our online Manners 101 class is PERFECT for people who:

Have a schedule that doesn't allow for a regular weekly class
Live in areas with limited or no access to a quality dog training program within a reasonable travel distance
Need access to dog training - NOW!
Have a dog that wouldn't do well in an in-person group class setting (aggressive, fearful)
Have a dog that doesn't travel well or the owners have difficulty traveling themselves
Have previously attended a group class with no great results
Want to involve several family members of all ages
Want to be able to review the material more than once to ensure success
Have multiple dogs in the same household that would benefit from training

The Manners 101 Online Video course is designed to be done with your dog on a leash beside you as though you were in a group class. This allows the dog to be able to learn some of the exercises in a calm, comfortable, and familiar environment before adding the difficulty of distractions to the equation. Over the past 2 years, we have been analyzing the various degrees of success within our training program and concluded that the most successful dog/handler teams are those who:

Complete the online video course on the recommended schedule
Complete their weekly homework exercises during the video series

Once the profile, booking, and course fee have been done, the first video should arrive safely in your Inbox within 1 – 2 business days.

Payment is required at the time of registration and before the first training video is sent.
